Johnny & The Mongrels w/ Cass Clayton Band, Mountain Rose

Johnny & The Mongrels is a high powered, New Orleans infused, "Swamp Blues/Funk" collaboration from Fort Collins, Colorado. The project was developed in April of 2015, via the mutual musical admiration of singer songwriter Johnny Ryan & incomparable bassist/singer, songwriter/multi instrumentalist, Jeff Bostic. Notably, Within 6 months of the projects' development, The Mongrels were invited to become part of the new groundbreaking, SpokesBuzz Springboard Program, directed by Dani Grant (Mishawaka Amphitheater). Immediately after accepting that invitation, the band literally "Spring-boarded" into playing highly attended local live shows, organizing an east coast tour and successfully recorded their debut album entitled "You Ain't Ready", that dropped in early 2016. Some but not all, Notable shows/events Johnny & The Mongrels have played are 2016 Scene Magazine's Fresh Talent Showcase, Aggie Theatre with Samantha Fish 2016, Aggie Theatre with Musketeer Gripweed & Shakedown Street 2016, 28th Annual Colorado Brewer's Festival 2017, Larimer County Fair's Gnarly Barley Brewfest 2017, KRFC 88.9FM's Live & Local Series, FoCoMX 2017. Recently having released their EP "You Ain't Ready," Johnny & The Mongrels is described as, "a band with thoughtful songwriting & a seemingly innate sense of blues rhythm & vibe. Fun, upbeat and full of energy, this is one Colorado band bridging the gap between NOLA and The Rockies in fine style," by DAWN DUNCAN - Northern Colorado Scene Magazine.
With a voice loaded with smoky soulfulness, it’s easy to see why Cass Clayton Band is landing on some of the best stages and festivals across the country. CCB has become known for its tight chemistry and high-energy stage presence. Their non-denominational approach to music and genre blends rock, R&B, funk, blues and soul into their own contemporary sound. CCB’s newest album, PLAY NICE, pulls together disparate influences but ties it all up in a framework that would seem as at home in Muscle Shoals or on Beale Street as it would on Michigan Avenue or Sunset Boulevard. Cass and co-writer/producer, Taylor Scott, have won six songwriting awards and have garnered top reviews from magazines nationally and internationally. PLAY NICE ranked #1 in the national R&B Chart for 11 weeks in 2019/20. Cass’s previous self-titled record from last year won Album of the Year 2018 in the Colorado Blues Society Members’ Choice Awards. In addition, Cass has been voted as one of the top 3 slide guitar players in Colorado and top 2 vocalists (CO Blues Society Members’ Choice Awards). In February, 2019, she was featured on the cover of RECORDING Magazine with a 4-page feature article. Known for a uniquely soulful and velvety vocal style, Cass effortlessly moves from gentle and contemplative to a belting range that will knock you flat.
