Desert Dwellers is a diverse electronic music project that bridges the ancient and the future, fusing deep bass, world instrumentation, and psychedelic textures into immersive sonic journeys. Founded in 1999 by Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, the project grew out of the legendary Moontribe gatherings in the deserts of Southern California and has since become a cornerstone of global festival culture.
Blending influences from countless genres, Desert Dwellers has released dozens of albums and remixes, toured across five continents, and collaborated with an eclectic array of artists from around the world. Their music has graced stages at Symbiosis, Ozora, Lightning in a Bottle, Boom, Envision, Shambhala, and Burning Man, resonating with audiences through both meditative journeys and powerful dance floor experiences.
In 2025, Desert Dwellers entered its most significant evolution yet. Co-founder Amani Friend stepped away from touring to focus on studio production and other creative pursuits, while a new collaborator joined the project, acclaimed producer and mixing/mastering engineer Sarkis Mikael.
The trio of Amani, Treavor, and Sarkis have begun co-creating a powerful new body of work, blending their distinct talents into an inspired next chapter. A reimagined live show is also in the works, which Treavor and Sarkis will debut in 2026.
While continuing to honor the project’s signature sound and ethos “Music Beyond Borders,” Desert Dwellers is now expanding into bold new sonic territories. Sarkis, with releases on respected labels like Sol Selectas, Saisons, and Hoomidaas, brings a fresh creative spark and deep musical integrity. His infectious enthusiasm and unique vision are helping elevate Desert Dwellers to a whole new level of artistic expression.
Great Dane
Dane Morris is Great Dane, a Los Angeles native who recently relocated to Brooklyn. Regarded as a staple in the bass and trap genres, Great Dane made his mark in the electronic music community with his intricate, catchy productions laced with hip hop influences.
Over the past eight years the Low End Theory alum has accrued a deep catalog of singles and EPs plus five full-length albums. As a co-founder of the widely known TeamSupreme collective alongside Mr. Carmack, Penthouse Penthouse and others, Great Dane has been a part of its evolution from a college course to an extracurricular weekly beat cipher to a world-renowned beat collective. Founding his own label ADBC in 2017, he continues to uplift other creatives with releases from Samsin, Herzeloyde, jordnmoody and more.
Great Dane has shared the stage with legends like Flying Lotus, Boombox Cartel, Gramatik, and The Glitch Mob, plus most recently received production credit with Diplo and Zac Brown. Delivering the best of classic and forward thinking sounds, he continues to develop in new directions by incorporating more live instruments and vocals.
