Aiko was started in 1984 in Nashville as a college band that played a regular rotation at college campuses and some of the most legendary venues in Music City. Over the last four decades, this Grateful Dead inspired band has played gigs from coast to coast but these days, they only play a handful of very special performances each year, collaborating with musical “friends” to help celebrate the band whose music will be forever played on planet Earth – the Grateful Dead. Aiko consists of:
Ben Anderson – Bass/vocals
Ross Mason – Drums
Lance Deal – Drums
Steve Krafft – Guitar/vocals
Michelle Yahn – Vocals
Ben Anderson, II – Vocals
In 2025, the band will hold its annual shows in Denver, CO at the Great American Beer Festival on October 9th and at Cervantes Ballroom on October 10th. Billed as “Aiko & Friends”, the band is honored to be joined at both shows by these special guests:
Ross James – Guitar, Phil Lesh & Friends, Terrapin Family Band
Bill Nershi – Guitar/vocals, String Cheese Incident
Jason Hann – Percussion, String Cheese Incident
Jennifer Hartswick – Trumpet/vocals, Trey Anastasio Band
